JOB TITLE: Obstetrician-Gynecologist

POSITION SUMMARY

 

CCHS Obstetrician-Gynecologists provide quality, distinctively Christian care, addressing medical and spiritual healthcare needs for underserved women in Memphis.

 

CCHS provides a full scope of Women’s Health services, including outpatient prenatal and gynecologic care, inpatient obstetrics, and gynecologic surgeries. Our Obstetrician-Gynecologists see ambulatory patients at our newly renovated Women’s Health Center at Broad. In addition to providing primary care for female patients, the OB-GYN will supervise mid-level providers at the Women’s Health Center and serve as OB-GYN consultant.

 

Our obstetrics inpatient service at Baptist Women’s Hospital is staffed by our call team of OB-GYNs and Family Medicine obstetricians (FM-OBs). OB-GYNs also have operating privileges, including robotic surgery privileges at two large Memphis hospitals.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Conduct medical assessment and establish management plan for women’s health conditions

  2. Monitor and treat patients during pregnancy and childbirth, including delivery and postnatal care

  3. Provide gynecologic primary and consultative care, including appropriate GYN surgical interventions

  4. Collaborates with nurse practitioners or physician assistants, as appropriate, in providing patient care; may assist in the education training of medical students and residents.

  5. Participates in continuing medical education, including Life Support Training, to maintain the skills necessary to perform physician duties and as required by applicable medical boards and the State.

  6. Expected patient care hours include:

    1. Outpatient clinic: average 3-4 half-day shifts per week (4hrs/shift)

    2. Inpatient Labor call: average 24 hours per week

    3. Operating: average 0.5 to 1 day per week in OR

    4. Provide back-up labor call to FM-OBs

  7. Additional call is compensated

  8. Document all patient encounters in a timely manner. Electronic health records used are eClinicalWorks for clinic and Epic for labor and delivery.

 

 

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Participate in organizational mission to provide distinctively Christian healthcare

  2. Attends staff and medical provider meetings and maintains a level of involvement with the health center committees, as needed, to ensure quality patient care

  3. Communicate across departments including behavioral and spiritual health

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education: Minimum—medical degree (MD or DO)

 

Experience: Minimum—completed residency in OB/GYN (GME accredited)

 

Licenses or Certifications: Board-eligible or board-certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology; maintain BLS/ACLS
