POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will play a critical role in conducting business and strategic planning, assessing future opportunities and developing detailed action plans to address them. CDO will work closely with the CEO and the Executive Team, and will collaborate across business segments to develop and implement solutions, which deliver tangible results. Additionally, the CDO will be responsible for developing and implementing a fundraising plan to support the financial growth of CCHS, including strategies for generating unrestricted support for general operations as well as grants and gifts earmarked for targeted programs and specific capital projects.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Strategic Planning & Initiatives

  • Work collaboratively with the Board and CEO along with the Executive Team to develop CCHS’ Strategic Plan and strategic priorities.
  • Work with the CEO and Executive Team to establish specific plans, deliverables and measurable objectives that are related to the short and long-term strategic plan for the organization.
  • Explore opportunities for strategic partnerships with local, state and federal agencies/ organizations; cultivate relationships with other health centers and community partners.
  • Oversee periodic review and reporting of the Strategic Plan noting progress toward achieving our goals.
  • Ensure department/functional strategic plan projects align with CCHS’ strategic priorities.
  • Work with the Director of Communication to ensure CCHS’s strategic plans are communicated internally and externally to employees, donors, partners, suppliers, and contractors as appropriate.

 

Public Relations

  • Oversee and direct the Communications Department to ensure a positive image of CCHS conveying its service delivery model, key interests and future plans in a professional, compassionate and Christ-like manner.
  • Act as liaison with associations, e.g. Tennessee Primary Care Association, NACHC, etc., along with the CEO and engage in issues related to advocacy.

 

Fund Development

  • Assist the Board Development Committee and Executive Management in the cultivation and solicitation of donors.
  • Building on CCHS’ current fundraising strategy to date, work with the CEO to create, develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising plan to CCHS’ strategic objectives, including cultivation of current and prospective corporate donors, foundations and development of an individual donor strategy.
  • Deepen all donor alliances through regular, relevant communications and stewardship; and expand the donor base and partnership opportunities. Maintain a significant portfolio of principal donors, and facilitate relationships between donors and executive team.
  • Ensure proper and timely submission of all federal grants and reports including, but not limited to, the 330e/330h applications, annual Budget Period Renewal; also responsible for the management of CCHS’ Electronic Handbook.
  • Motivate and empower health center leadership and staff to support and participate in fundraising activities.
  • Develop and maintain recordkeeping and computer systems for tracking gift receipts and acknowledgements, donor participation, and identification and cultivation of prospects.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 

Education: Master’s Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field.

 

Experience: Requires 10 or more years of progressive, executive-level management experience in the health care field, particularly strong knowledge of the Federally Qualified Health Centers, health strategy, strategic planning and development. Strong project management experience with the ability to lead others. Ability to take a vision and formalize into an actionable plan. Proven success in marketing, sales, or promotion; outstanding written and verbal communication skills; working knowledge of computers; proven networking and relationship-building skills
